Waydownsouth s amazing rate of improvement shows no sign of abating as the Pat Flynn-trained gelding made it four wins in his last five starts by landing division one of the 50-80 rated mile handicap.
The Chevalier gelding, who started his run of success by winning off a mark of 50 at Killarney in August, made light of his current rating of 80 when drawing clear under Danny Grant in the final furlong to beat West Coast Dream by three and a half lengths.
Grant was recording his first success since suffering facial injuries in a nasty fall on the polytrack at Dundalk earlier this month.
“That will probably be it for the season as he won't be going to Dundalk. I was a bit worried that this was coming a bit soon after his last win at the Curragh (Oct 11) but he did it well,” said the winning trainer.
