Some Article proved easy to back in the opening maiden hurdle at Punchestown but was strongest in the closing stages to land the spoils. Investmentsuccess was the well backed 6/4 favourite for the two-mile contest and appeared to be travelling best as he hit the front entering the straight.
Niall Madden was pushing along on Some Article to take closer order but he tackled the market leader before the final flight.
Tom Mullins' charge kept on best on the run-in to record a length-and-three-quarters success in the second colours of JP McManus.
The winner had been well beaten when returning from an absence in handicap company at Naas last month. He had traded at 10/1 this morning but proved friendless and eventually started a 20/1 shot.
"That was a bit of a surprise," admitted Mullins afterwards.
"He won the Goffs bumper here so he must like it here. He had a year off and he took no interest at Naas.
"He has to be ridden handy and that made the difference today."
