Black Cache landed some nice bets as he got up in the closing stages to win the John Jo Bright Trust Beginners Chase, providing his rider Davy Condon with a quick double (replaced Mikey Butler).
The Eoin Doyle trained son of Cachet Noir was 25/1 this morning with Paddy Power, but he opened on-course at just 14/1 before going off a 12/1 chance.
Owned by Damien Carroll, the seven-year-old gelding was having his eleventh start for Doyle, having been previously trained in the UK, where he won once.
As they approached the second last Claragh Native travelled best in front, with Black Cache under pressure back in sixth.
He was still in sixth at the last, but he got going on the run-in, coming between Claragh Native and Sizing Solution inside the final 100 yards, getting up to score by a length and a quarter at the line.
Sizing Solution was sent off the 2/1 favourite and he finished second under Andrew Lynch for Jim Dreaper, while Claragh Native (7/2) weakened to finish third under Davy Russell for Arthur Moore.
Eoin Doyle said afterwards: "He struggled over hurdles but he is better over fences.
"I told Davy to leave it late but not that late! He wants further, he was flat out and they came back to him. Not many would have won on him.
"Davy said he made a bad mistake three out and it knocked the stuffing out of him. It is a long way to come up here today but we kind of fancied him, his previous two runs over fence weren’t bad.
"He got the job done and that is great. We will probably go for a handicap chase with him now but we will see what the handicapper does.
"His owner Damien Carroll is a great supporter of mine, he is from Dublin and he is getting married tomorrow."
