The Tom Hogan trained Some Officer completed the pattern that had developed in his form (now 321) as he took the last at Sligo, the Follow Sligo Races On Facebook Flat Race.
Ridden by Jonathon Burke, the six-year-old son of Court Cave finished third to Love On Top at Ballinrobe in May before going down by half a length to King Shabra at Listowel last month.
Having opened at 11/4 on-course, he touched 3s before going off the 5/2 joint-favourite with the Charlie Swan trained newcomer, Close One (4/1 this morning and opened at 3s on-course).
The successful bay gelding hit the front before the straight and he soon went clear, coming home an easy nine length winner, from Close One under Kevin Power back in second. Sunsetstorise completed the placings, fourteen lengths back in third under Mikey Fogarty for Fran Flood at 5/1.
Tom Hogan said afterwards: “He is a smashing little horse. He has been a bit unlucky a few times. He has loads of guts and he’ll make a smashing hurdler.
"He might run in a winners bumper at Galway. The hill there should suit him.
"He is a great little stayer and he couldn’t pull him up there. He wouldn’t want it too firm be goes on good ground."
