Pat Smullen notched a quick double when weaving his way through on Night Spark to collect in the 1m4f handicap at Dundalk.
The John O'Shea-trained gelding was short of room at the two furlong pole and had to wait for a gap.
The split appeared and he hit the front over a furlong from home, staying on strongly for a length-and-a-quarter success over Kevkat
"He's a grand old horse. I rode him here twice last year when he won and was second," said Smullen afterwards.
"Fair play to John he does well with his horses. He fancied him tonight and he won well.
"I was drawn 14 so we opted to drop in rather than go round the outside and lose ground.
"He likes a bit of cover but when you do that you're always hoping for a bit of luck and thankfully we got the gap."
