Pat Smullen gave Fictional Account an inspired front-running ride to claim Her Majesty's Plate at Down Royal.
Smullen, recording a double after the earlier win of Ancient Sands sent his mount into the lead in the early stages.
He kicked on three furlongs out on the Vincent Ward-trained mare and soon had his rivals in trouble. Knight Eagle came through to give chase but was never getting on terms and could only chase the 5/1 shot home by a length-and-three-quarters.
"That's fantastic for her. The conditions suited and the ground suited today. We were going to go to the Curragh but I changed my mind," said Ward afterwards.
"She could go for the Cesarewitch now to finish the season. We'll try and get a bit of black type with her next season.
"Me and Frank Broad have a small team and it's fantastic for us. We've had 15 runners with nine placed and three winners."
