An Saighdiur has been a great servant to connections and the eleven-year-old led home an Andy Slattery 1-2 in the Cork Racecourse On Twitter Handicap, the finale at the Mallow venue today.
Slattery's son Andrew was in the plate and he soon had the Acclamation gelding at the head of affairs.
He was looking good from some way out. Young Slattery's cousin Ben Coen tried to close him down but his mount Maysonette was three lengths in arrears of the winner at the finish.
"I didn't realise my other horse (Maysonette) had finished second until the commentator called him and my son Andrew and Ben (Coen, rider of Maysonette) are cousins, so it was a real family success," said Slattery senior.
"I thought he'd (An Saighdiur) win as he has come down the weights in recent times and it's great he has won again."
S. Foley, rider of Taras Way trained by P.J.F. Murphy, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount struggled on the ground.
