Dani California and Lyceum were 'well-in' for the Vinegar Hill Handicap, relative to their marks over flights, and so it proved as the former wasn't extended to account for her chief market rival by three parts of a length. In front approaching the straight under Davy Condon, the 9/4 favourite beat Lyceum, who tried hard under pressure but couldn't match the smooth winner.
