Joey Sheridan got in on the double action tonight at Ballinrobe when Shumaker ran out a cosy winner of the concluding mile-and-a-half handicap.
Paul Traynor 's charge was a big improver over hurdles last season, going up 33lb in the ratings, and raced off the basement mark of 45 back on the level.
Sheridan tracked the leaders on the 2/1 favourite before kicking for home over two furlongs from home.
The chestnut gelding galloped on strongly in the closing stages and was always holding Jeff Kidder who finished off well to get within three-parts-of-a-length.
"It was his first run back and fair play to Paul and Karen they are well able to have them ready," said Sheridan.
"I rode their first Flat winner too (Lusis Naturea, Down Royal July 2019) and I'm very grateful for the opportunities they've given me."
