BoyleSports has made Sea Of Sands the 4/1 favourite for Saturday’s Cesarewitch at Newmarket following declarations on Thursday.
A total of 25 horses stood their ground to take part in the big field handicap, with 13 Irish horses looking to boast the raiding party record and make it six wins in seven years. The leading Irish hope according to the oddsmakers is the Willie Mullins-trained Sea Of Sands who has seen his odds crash into 4/1 from 33/1 in recent weeks.
A Group 3 winner in Germany, the six-year-old returned to the track for the first time in two years when bolting up in a Listowel maiden hurdle, triggering a major gamble for his return to the flat.
Last year’s winning trainer Emmet Mullins will field a dual pronged attack on the £90,000 prize with Jacovec Cavern, who has seen his odds more than halve from 14/1 into 13/2 and 2023 winner The Shunter (12/1) both towards the head of the betting.
Manxman (10/1) is the shortest priced of the twelve strong British battalion for Simon and Ed Crisford, with Cesarewitch trial runner-up Premiere Ligne a 14/1 chance for Ed Walker, who scored Group 1 success in Longchamp on Sunday with sprinter, Makarova.
