Plans are on hold with Sandor Clegane after the gelding finished second on his debut over fences in the Grade 2 Liam & Valerie Brennan Florida Pearl Novice Chase at Punchestown last month.

The six-year-old son of Fame And Glory couldn’t find any extra in the straight when beaten 14 lengths by Favori De Champdou but connections are hopeful that a wind procedure may have a positive effect.

“We are going to get his wind tweaked a bit,” Nolan told Racing TV.

“During the race we couldn’t say that we were happy but we still think there is more to come from him.

“He was beaten a long way and Flooring Porter hung so badly that you could say he would have been a good second and we’d have been third.

“I’m hoping that we’ll get things right and that there is more to come from him but plans are on hold for the moment.”

Sandor Clegane won twice over hurdles last season including the valuable Connolly’s RED MILLS EBF Auction Hurdle Series Final at the Punchestown Festival and was also placed in Grade 1 races at both the Dublin Racing Festival and the Cheltenham Festival.
