Trainer Jessica Harrington and jockey Robbie Power followed up their excellent day’s work at Leopardstown yesterday, landing the Grade 2 Flyingbolt Novice Chase with Saludos at Navan today.
Power, who partnered a Grade 1 double for Harrington at the Dublin venue yesterday, made virtually all on Saludos, before eventually seeing off the challenge of Montan by a length and three parts, on the run-in.
Saludos did cross the runner-up’s path at the second last fence and while the Stewards called an Enquiry, the result never looked in any doubt (1.02 to keep the race on Betfair).
Following Saludos’ win Harrington stated “he’s tough horse and I’m delighted he’s back to winning ways. He burst a blood vessel the last day but we treated him and gave him a week off.”
“Thank God he’s back to himself and while he’s not entered at Cheltenham, Aintree is a possibility.”
