Sinndar claimed a famous victory in the Prix de l`Arc de Triomphe Lucien Barriere at Longchamp today as the expected duel with Montjeu failed to materialise.
Johnny Murtagh broke well on the dual Derby winner and led for the first furlong until his pacemaker Raypour took over at the head of the field.
Michael Kinane held up Montjeu, winner of the race last year, in the early stages and started to make headway in the false straight.
In front Murtagh kicked for home leaving the home turn on the Aga Khan`s three-year-old and set up a clear advantage.
As John Oxx`s charge galloped powerfully in the lead Kinane asked Montjeu for his effort but the response was disappointing.
Egyptband emerged from the pack to throw down a challenge but Sinndar had plenty in reserve and claimed the spoils from the French Oaks winner, with Volvoreta back in third.
Montjeu could only finish fourth.
