Australian star Sunline put up a breath-taking display to repeat her 1999 win in the Group One BMW Cox Plate at Moonee Valley today.
She routed her rivals in the country`s most prestigious level-weights contest, defying an unfavourable draw to stride clear from the home turn and score by no less than seven lengths under Greg Childs.
The 11-8 favourite`s triumph in a Aus $2 million (#720,000) race which formed the seventh leg of the Emirates World Series made her Australasia`s biggest ever prize-money earner.
Second place in the mile-and-a-half event went to last week`s Caulfield Cup winner Diatribe, a 15-1 shot who held off 125-1 outsider Referral by a nose.
Only nine horses had previously won more than one the Cox Plate - regarded as Australasia`s weight-for-age championship - including the legendary Phar Lap.
