Nigel Tinkler had to decline an invitation to run Sugarfoot in the Hong Kong Mile last year but he is looking forward to running his six-year-old in this season`s renewal at Sha Tin on December 17th.
Sugarfoot has been running well all year and boasts successes in the Group Three Leicestershire Stakes at Doncaster and the Listed Michael Page International Trophy at Ascot.
Tinkler, who has no doubt that Sugarfoot is the best horse he has trained, said: 'We were asked to run last year but he had had quite a hard season and we wanted him right for this season so it is very nice to have been asked again.
'We are not sure what he will be doing in 2001. He may race again or he may take up stallion duties, so going out there will be a good advertisement for him.'
Sugarfoot finished third to Indian Lodge in the Group One Prix de la Foret at Longchamp last month and returned to France to finish sixth to Jim And Tonic in the Prix Perth at Saint-Cloud 10 days ago.
His Malton trainer went on: 'We have kept him on the go and we will put some heat lamps in his box to keep him warm.
'I am not sure when he will be going out there but they have to pass a soundness test before they go. In fact they get vetted on quite a few occasions before they are allowed to travel.'
Sugarfoot has had several different jockeys on board this season but Tinkler went on: 'John Reid, who did ride him in his three-year-old days, has been on him in his last two races and I would think he will ride him again.'
