SLICKLY ON COURSE FOR ARLINGTON BID

Slickly, Godolphin`s representative in the Arlington Million, will step up his preparations for the Chicago feature tomorrow.

Although, Brian Powell, the Godolphin assistant, stressed that Slickly would be having a blowout as opposed to a full scale workout on the grass course.

Powell said: 'Slickly has been lightly trained. There is no specific reason - only that there hasn`t been a suitable race for him.'

The 1999 Grand Prix de Paris winner, successful in his only start of the campaign at Longchamp in June, arrived in Chicago last Friday.

Godolphin`s French acquisition stretched his legs for Saturday`s big race by going for a mile and a quarter spin on Monday.

Trainer Saeed bin Suroor, racing manager Simon Crisford and jockey Frankie Dettori are due to arrive at Arlington on Thursday.

Course officials report that Britain`s second Arlington Million runner, Philip Mitchell`s Running Stag, is due to jet in from New York on Wednesday.
