SETBACK HITS PEGASUS PLAN

A minor setback has ruled Fusaichi Pegasus out of the Jockey Club Gold Cup on Saturday, his intended prep-race for the Breeders` Cup Classic on November 4th.

The Kentucky Derby hero`s foot injury is expected to sidline him for 'two to three days', although he will travel to Churchill Downs on Monday as planned.

Trainer Neil Drysdale said: 'He grabbed himself playing a couple of days ago. We galloped him and there was a speck of blood. We daren`t risk it.'

Fusiachi Pegasus, who will stand at stud for Coolmore`s sister stud Ashford, in Kentucky, upon his retirement, finished second in the Preakness Stakes in May and he reappeared after a four-month lay-off to win the Grade Two Jerome Handicap on September 23rd.

Drysdale added: 'We ran him in the Jerome to give him plenty of time in case of a minor setback. In the scheme of things, this isn`t too bad.'
