SEEMAR STILL IN HUNT

Nad Al Sheba Review Thursday, March 9th

With the Emirates' Trainers Championship decided on prizemoney, Zabeel Stables trainer Satish Seemar capitalised on an absence of Saeed bin Suroor-trained runners at Nad Al Sheba last night.

Seemar is clear in number of winners however with the Championship decided by prizemoney for local currency races only, bin Suroor remains about Dhs900,000 clear with over a month to go.

Seemar's two winners and six placegetters at Nad Al Sheba on Thursday night narrowed that lead with bin Suroor only having runners at two more meetings, Sunday evening and next Thursday, Seemar must rate himself a chance of overhauling the Al Quoz based trainer.

There are some rich races left in the three weeks of the season after the Dubai World Cup meeting on march 25 however by that time, bin Suroor's horses will all be either on their way to Europe or in the process of going.

No races on Dubai World Cup day count in the race for the championship as all are worth values in US dollars.

The race for the champion jockey in the UAE is over with Zabeel Stable jockey Ted Durcan 15 wins clear of Willie Supple and 16 clear of Richard Hills.

Larghetto provided the Irishman with his 47th winner of the season while Supple was also successful in the final event with Mallooh. Mallooh is prepared by Dhruba Selvaratnam whose runners have taken time to find their best form however his top class sprinter Ramp And Rave is right on line for the US$1million Listed Dubai Golden Shaheen on March.

Ramp And Rave, ridden by Gary Stevens, won the event last year when it was the Nad Al Sheba Sprint while stablemate Mudallel was successful in the same race in 1998.
