Frankie Dettori and former soccer player turned film star Vinnie Jones took the stage and stole the show at Leicester today when the popular Italian brought Sixty Seconds home a convincing winner of the EBF Ring Racechat 08000 830 832 Maiden Stakes.
Sixty Seconds (4-5) was completing a 21-1 treble John Gosden who also sent out Baranova (2-9) and Jalisco (9-1) to win under good rides from Jimmy Fortune who is keeping his fingers crossed that their stable companion Savoire Vivre will be fit to run in Saturday`s St Leger.
Dettori judged things to perfection on sixty seconds who made all the running and having received a great reception on his return to the winner`s enclosure was loudly cheered by the crowd when he leapt off the colt into Jones`s arms.
Jones, who has enjoyed a great deal of success with greyhounds was tasting glory for the first time as a race horse owner, being a member of a syndicate which owns the IR50,000 guineas colt and he said: 'If you havegot a weak heart don`t go into greyhound or horse racing!
'It has been a great day, I stayed over but I am going back to LA tomorrow and we will be drinking plenty of champagne on the way home.
'Everything is going well, the film Sixty Seconds has gone to number one and now the horse is number one too.'
Gosden said of Sixty Seconds, who is entered in both the Racing Post Trophy and Dewhurst Stakes: 'A step up in trip will suit nicely and a conditions race is the next possibility, then we will look for something else.'
Baranova was long odds on to win the EBF `Call Racehcat On 08000 830832` Maiden Fillies` Stakes and though having to work a bit harder than expected to see off Guardia she won well in the end.
However the daughter of Caerleon returned with some skin having been scrapped off a hind leg and Gosden added: 'Something has run into the back of her, it is not serious, but it is not nice.
'Last week at Salisbury we had Solar Flare struck into after a furlong and unfortunately she has severed a tendon and she is finished for life, she will never race again.'
Fortune brought Jalisco with a perfectly-timed run to win the 10 furlongs `Phone Racehcat On 08000 830832` Maiden Stakes but Gosden admitted he may now have difficulty in finding a suitable next race for his debutante winner.
But reflecting on his move to Manton from Newmarket he said: 'It has been a great season and we are going well. We have good staff who have all worked hard and it can be difficult when you move but everything has gone great.'
Pat Eddery was seen at his strongest and most determined when getting Unchain My Heart, home in front in the Racecourse Video Services Handicap.
The bay filly, who is trained by Brian Meehan, was scoring for the fifth time this season for owner Sue Hearne, wife of boxing promoter Barry Hearne who also bred the filly at her Mascall Stud at Brentwood, Essex.
Michael Jarvis`s Emerald Peace who had some good form as a two year old was back on song when taking the Alex Hammond `Racechat` Condition Stakes in the hands of Matthew Henry.
The later said afterwards: 'I am pleased with the way things are going this season. That is my first winner for Mr Jarvis and you couldn`t wish to ride for a nicer person.'
