Ante-post favourite Savoire Vivre is among the 21 horses who have stood their ground for the #350,000 Rothmans Royals St Leger following today`s forfeit stage.
The John Gosden-trained colt, made the 7-2 favourite with Coral on Monday for the Doncaster Classic, advertised his credentials when second to Murghem in the Geoffrey Freer Stakes at Newbury on Saturday.
The pecking order for the September 9th contest should be clearer following today`s Great Voltigeur Stakes at York with four of the five runners still in the Leger.
The quartet are the Sir Michael Stoute-trained Queen`s Vase winner Dalampour, his stablemate Air Marshall, who lost out by a short-head in the Peugeot Gordon Stakes at Goodwood, King Edward VII Stakes winner Subtle Power (Henry Cecil) and the unbeaten Marienbard.
The latter, trained by Michael Jarvis, could be joined by stable companion Holding Court, the six-length winner of the French Derby.
However, the colt is reported to be set for the 128thGrosser Preis Von Baden at Baden-Baden in Germany a week on Sunday.
Rostropovich, one of three entries trained by Aidan O`Brien, also runs at York today in the Weatherbys Insurance Lonsdale Stakes.
O`Brien`s team also includes Racing Post Trophy runner-up Lermontov.
A strong Irish challenge includes the Dermot Weld-trained Media Puzzle, winner of the Ulster Harp Derby on July 13th.
Godolphin, successful last year with Mutafaweq, in 1998 with Nedawi and in 1995 with Classic Cliche, rely on the Vodafone Oaks third and Irish Oaks runner-up Melikah.
Millenary, who beat Air Marshall in the Peugeot Gordon Stakes, is also in the race.
There is a #20,000 supplementary entry stage for the St Leger on September 2nd.
