Rutledge shines again on Dame Dame Rapide got a nice split on the rail to claim the apprentice handicap at Dundalk under Siobhan Rutledge. The John McConnell-trained filly was repeating her course and distance win last month, when she sprang a 20/1 shock. Sent off 11/2 tonight she was held up before switching left on to the rail a furlong-and-a-half from home. The Footstepsinthesand filly gained a narrow advantage at the furlong pole and stayed on well in the closing stages to record a length-and-a-half win over 15/8 favourite Time And Money. McConnell said:- “She got an absolute peach of a ride from Siobhan. She got a nice bit of cover, went the brave man's route and it paid off. “Those fillies when the penny drops they can start improving. She has taken no training since she won the last time, just ticked over. “That was only her second run at the trip, and she will probably stay a mile and a half. We’ll be back here in a couple of weeks. “I’m just so happy for Siobhan. She works so hard at it and I hope other people take notice.” (Quotes by Alan Magee)
