Blue White Fire proved game in front to give Dermot Weld a quick double in the two-year-old maiden at Gowran Park.
Pat Smullen again cut out the running on the Montjeu colt and he responded gamely when tackled down the straight. Lonrach was the first to press him from before the turn but he couldn't find a way past.
The well-backed 4/6 favourite Secretary Of State came with a strong-looking run on the outer to throw down his challenge and looked set to swoop past inside the final furlong.
He couldn't get his head in front either, however, and the Moyglare colours again triumphed as Blue White Fire prevailed by a head.
"Pat gave him a very good ride," said Weld afterwards.
"He's a progressive colt but we won't be in a hurry with him as he's by Montjeu.
"He might have a little time off as he needs to furnish and develop - physically strengten.
"He could come back hopefully for a Listed race in July. He's been working nicely since his debut run."
