RUDI'S PET MAKING PROGRESS

Top-class northern sprinter Rudi's Pet is making a good recovery from injury and trainer David Nicholls hopes to prepare the gelding for Royal Ascot next month.

The six-year-old, who progressed from handicap company to winning the Group Three King George Grosvenor Casino Stakes at Goodwood last season, injured a ligament while being prepared for the Dubai Golden Shaheen at Nad Al Sheba in March.

'He's been rescanned and where the problem was in his branch joint it seems to have gone away,' the trainer told the Racing Channel.

'The great news is that the filling isn't there any more.

'We're pleased and hopefully we can get him ready for Ascot, we're looking forward to running him.'
