ROYER DUPRE MAY SEND COLT TO NEWBURY

Wet weather in France may persuade Alain de Royer Dupre to run star miler Sendawar in Saturday's Juddmonte Lockinge Stakes.

The trainer has a choice between the Group One prize at Newbury and the Prix d'Ispahan at Longchamp the following day for his colt, winner of last year's French 2000 Guineas, St James's Palace Stakes and Prix du Moulin.

The d'Ispahan is his preferred option but the prospect of soft ground could see him reroute the four-year-old to Britain.

De Royer Dupre said today: 'It depends on the forecast in England and in France. We will decide on Wednesday.

'He likes good and firm ground and if it is good to soft or softer he can't run.

'He had a normal gallop this morning, nothing special but he needs to run.'

'I think for his first run, if the ground was good, we would stay in France, I think it is difficult for the horse to have a long trip for his first race of the season.

'But it is possible he could go to England, the forecast in France is very bad.'

The official going at Longchamp for Sunday's French Guineas meeting was described as 'very soft' while the ground at Newbury is good.
