Kingsdale Orion proved too strong for his rivals in the feature event at Roscommon on Tuesday night.
Michael Hussey produced the colt to lead at the furlong pole in the O'Gara Royal Hotel Race and he drew clear close home for a three-length margin over well-backed favourite Nastrelli (6/4 to 11/10f)
The Intikhab colt was winning for the second time this season for trainer Florence Mills, who trains about 20 miles from the course in Kiltoom - near Athlone.
'It was a great ride from Michael Hussey but a lot of praise has to go to Martin Lane, who has done a lot of work with him - unfortunately he was suspended today,' said Mills.
'I don't know where we'll go now but I think there are another couple of races in him as he's improving all the time.'
Peter Casey saddled his first winner of this Flat campaign when 20/1 shot Rockys Choice edged out Fields Of Green in the closing stages of the first division of the Pyramid Bookmakers Handicap.
'When the owner bought him the horse was out in a field for a year-and-a-half before he came in to training,' revealed Casey afterwards.
The second division of the seven-furlong contest saw Newparks Doughter get the better of Salishan by a head after a good final furlong duel.
Strike One appreciated the step up in trip when swooping in the final furlong to land the Ulster Bank Maiden by half-a-length from long-time leader Masterofceremonies.
'He has been crying out for further and showed that in Cork,' said winning trainer Charles O'Brien. 'He will make a lovely jumper and is progressing all the time.'
Gilberto put a frustrating start to the season behind him when holding Persian Knight at bay by half-a-length in the ERA Oates Auctioneers Handicap.
'He had a few little problems earlier in the year,' said trainer Pat Martin. 'He likes a good cut in the ground and got that today. He also got a lovely ride from Pat Smullen.'
The first juvenile hurdle of the season produced a thrilling finish with Won In The Dark battling back gamely to score.
King Of Redfield had swooped to lead on the run-in but the Sabrina Harty-trained gelding found more close home to gain a narrow victory.
The second division was taken in great style by the Joe Crowley-trained Paco Jack.
Ruby Walsh sent his mount on before the second last and he quickened clear before the final flight for a 17-length victory.
