The Jim Dreaper-trained gelding was soon well adrift as Balla Sola and Dante's Battle set off at a good clip. 'I was afraid of the ground, but we took a chance as there were so few runners. Barry (Geraghty) said he was never letting himself down, and he will only run again over the summer if there is some cut', said Dreaper.

Niall McCullagh was the Flat rider in form when completing a well-backed double aboard Pakiefromathleague and Molomo. Pakiefromathleague responded gamely under pressure in the Red Mills Handicap, leading two furlongs out to beat favourite Carlesimo by three and a half lengths.
Molomo gained an overdue win in the EBF Fillies Maiden, quickening clear from the two furlong pole to beat the staying on Handsomme Bop by two lengths. 'She is a nicely bred filly, and it's a relief to get a winning bracket. She will go back into Stakes races now, and is probably best over this trip', said trainer Noel Meade.
