Philip Robinson has suffered a double blow in the build-up to York`s prestigious Ebor meeting which gets under way tomorrow.
The 39-year-old jockey has lost the ride on both Barathea Guest in tomorrow`s Juddmonte International Stakes and Ela Athena in the Aston Upthorpe Yorkshire Oaks the following afternoon.
Robinson has ridden 43 domestic winners plus four victories overseas and is enjoying his most successful season having won four Group One races including the French Derby on Holding Court.
He has established a highly-successful partnership with Crimplene and has landed the German and Irish 1000 Guineas, Coronation Stakes and Vodafone Nassau Stakes on Clive Brittain`s filly.
It is his association with Crimplene which has cost Robinson the ride on Ela Athena as the owners of the Michael Jarvis-trained filly were unhappy that he had ridden Brittain`s charge to victory in the Nassau Stakes, a race in which Ela Athena finished second.
And on Sunday morning he was informed by Mick Channon that he had been replaced by Frankie Dettori on Barathea Guest, whom he steered into third place behind King`s Best and Giant`s Causeway in the Sagitta 2000 Guineas.
In a statement to PA Sport Robinson said: 'I am disappointed to lose the ride on Barathea Guest, particularly as I am sponsored by the owners.
'However, I have always had tremendous faith in the horse, whom I consider to be a top-class performer and wish him every possible success in the future.'
