Even an early morning downpour at Wetherby today could not prevent Mary Reveley continuing her mid-winter spree.
The trainer took her tally for the season to 80 with the victories of Smart Spirit and Pennys Pride.
She is well on schedule to notch her fastest-ever century which she achieved in mid-May last year.
Fears that the soft ground would scupper the chances of Smart Spirit proved unfounded.
The mare was uneasy in the betting - drifting to 9-4 favourite at the off - but moved well throughout in the Wetherby Racecourse Conferences Handicap Hurdle.
There was an anxious moment for her supporters as Kingdom Emperor challenged from the final flight but Tony Ross drove her out firmly to ensure a neck verdict.
"I was worried about the ground being too soft but they didn't hassle her much and she was very good today," said Reveley.
"She tends to be a much better horse fresh. Like a lot of females she doesn't want too much racing."
Alan Dempsey was on board Pennys Pride and he needed to resort to some strong riding to justify odds of 2-9 in the Ebf/Doncaster Bloodstock Sales Mares' Only National Hunt Flat Race..
The mare, a half-sister to the smart Penny A Day, led in the final 100 yards to edge out Abadair by one length.
Mr Mahdlo put in a superb round of jumping to defeat five rivals in the Wetherby Racecourse Banqueting Handicap Chase.
The 5-1 chance made most of the running in the hands of Norman Williamson and appeared to just have the measure of the pursuing favourite Paperising when that rival crashed heavily at the second last.
"Norman said he was so clever at his fences and he might be an ideal type for races like the Midlands National and Eider Chase next season," said trainer Bob Woodhouse.
"I didn't really want to put him in handicaps but there wasn't really much else for him after Carlisle was called off last week."
Some shaky jumping cost Martin Pipe's Galant Moss victory on his fencing debut in the Wetherby Millennium Stand Novices' Chase. The odds-on chance was run out of it close by Noshinannikin.
There was recompense for Pipe as Manx Magic made all in the White Rose Suite Amateur Riders' Novices' Hurdle.
The 30-100 chance was providing former champion jockey Peter Scudamore's son Tom with his eighth success of the campaign.
Rowington returned after an absence of 780 days to land the spoils in the Wetherby Racecourse Exhibitions Novices' Chase.
"He's had plenty of problems over the years but we've always known he was good," said trainer Alan King.
