Vodafone Derby fourth Housemaster had to settle for second place in the first leg of the Hong Kong triple crown at Sha Tin today.
The former inmate of Michael Bell's yard went down by a length and three quarters to Resfa in the one-mile Stewards' Cup.
Housemaster's rider Kieren Fallon later gained his first victory since returning to the saddle in Hong Kong on January 12th aboard Espresso.
Espresso, giving Fallon his eighth win of his stint in the territory, pipped Arriba Arriba by a head in the seven-furlong Tai Lam Chung Handicap.
