RENWICK RULED OUT FOR SEASON

Promising English conditional rider Wilson Renwick will miss the rest of the season following a freak accident sustained while riding out at Alastair Charlton`s stable last week.

Renwick was hurt when a young horse reared up and flipped over in the stable yard.

The 20-year-old is based with Andrew Parker at Lockerbie and would have ridden the latter`s first winner as a trainer, Hugo De Grez, in the Tote Credit Club Chase (Showcase Handicap) at Carlisle today.

Parker took over the licence on the death of his father Colin last month and the stable`s principal patron Ray Anderson Green explained: 'Wilson went to Alistair`s to school one of mine and was riding another horse in the yard when it reared up.

'He ended up with a fracture in a knee and an ankle but then developed a blood clot and he had to be rushed to hospital in Newcastle where he underwent a seven-hour operation.

'It was very serious, they had to remove the main artery and substitute a vein and he nearly lost a leg, and he will not ride again this season, but hopefully it will be all right for him in time.

'Being a young lad it is like the end of the world for him so we are giving him all the help we can and we are going to visit him in hospital this evening.'
