Brandsby trainer Peter Beaumont is praying for rain at Aintree over the next 12 days for his Martell Grand National hope Young Kenny.
Young Kenny, who is set to shoulder 12st on Saturday week, has shown all his best form on a soft surface and with the going currently described as good, good to soft in places on the Grand National course Beaumont said: "Let's hope these spells of rain keep coming. There is still two weeks to go so you never know it could come right.
"His preparation has gone all right so far and hopefully I'll be able to get a racecourse gallop into him although I don't know where or when yet."
Beaumont also has Cheltenham disappointment Niki Dee in the Aintree spectacular.
The 10-year-old was let down by his jumping in the William Hill National Hunt Chase and was pulled up before the last fence.
"The ground was a bit too quick for him," explained Beaumont. "It was unusual for him not to jump so well. He landed a bit steep at one then made a mistake at the next and you can't do that in that company."
Niki Dee has never raced beyond three and a half miles over fences, however, his trainer believes he will get the extra mile in the Grand National.
He said: "Like a lot of them he's unproven over the trip but hopefully he'll be all right."
Young Kenny is 16-1 with Ladbrokes for the Grand National with Niki Dee a 33-1 chance with the same firm.
