Kentucky Derby racegoers will enjoy the opportunity to place a bet on the English 2,000 Guineas for the first time his year. The race will be offered as a special wagering event preceding the 10-race Derby Day card at Churchill Downs. Trainer Aidan O'Brien, has entered 12 horses for the 2000 Guineas and has seven for the Kentucky Derby.
English 1,000 Guineas entries Lady Vettori and Bluemamba run in the Listed Prix Imprudence over seven furlongs at Maisons-Laffitte today. Lady Vettori, trained by Francois Rohaut, won her first five starts last season and was third to Lady Of Chad in the Group One Prix Marcel Boussac at Longchamp in October. The Pascal Bary-trained Bluemamba was an impressive winner at Chantilly in September. Criquette Head's Onlyman is the sole 2,000 Guineas entry in the six-runner Listed Prix Djebel over the same trip.
Flagship Uberalles will attempt to redeem his reputation following a disappointing Aintree effort when lining up for the Bonusprint Handicap Chase at Ayr tomorrow. Paul Nicholls' sixyear-old, an expensive failure when favourite and pulled up before four out at Aintree's Grand National meeting last week, will shoulder top weight of 12 stone in the £20,000 contest.
