Punchestown passes inspection

Punchestown was declared fit for racing ahead of their meeting tomorrow following an inspection of the track this afternoon.

However officials will take a further precautionary look at the Co. Kildare venue at 8am tomorrow morning in case of any further rain overnight.

Racing Manager Richie Galway said, "The forecast is reasonable, with the chance of a shower tonight but we are confident of racing going ahead. We have called a precautionary inspection just to make sure."

"The rain stopped here before lunchtime and, being an undulating track, water tends to lodge in places. We have been out pumping water off the track since 10am."

A seven race National Hunt card is due to start at 2.15, with hurdle races starting on the inside of the course and finishing up at the normal winning post in front of the stands.

The inner chase track will be used, with the Festival ground not being raced on now until the big meeting next April.
