Punchestown goes ahead

Today's meeting at Punchestown will go ahead following a precautionary inspection this morning.

The going is currently heavy, and the first of a seven race National Hunt card goes to post at 2.15.

The track was found to be unfit for racing after an initial viewing yesterday morning but the situation improved as the rain abated and water was pumped off parts of the course.

A further inspection at 4pm yesterday gave racing the green light but officials decided to take another look this morning just to make sure conditions didn't deterioriate overnight.

Meanwhile the going at Clonmel is soft on the hurdle course and yielding to soft on the chase track ahead of their meeting tomorrow. The weather forecast is generally dry for both today and tomorrow.
