Jockey Robbie Power is looking forward to next week’s Galway Festival, and is hoping that he can enhance his good record in the feature events, the Tote Galway Plate and The Guinness Galway Hurdle.

He’s hopeful of a big run from last year’s winner,Tudor City, in the latter event next Thursday.

“Galway’s been very lucky for me, said Power.

“Nearly a Moose in the Galway Plate for Paddy Mullins back in 2003. Missunited then, (2013 Galway Hurdle), for Michael Winters, we’ll never forget them scenes, coming back in after winning on her. That was fantastic.

"Then last year Tudor City, for John Breslin and Tony Martin, in the Hurdle as well. So I’ve been lucky to win the Hurdle twice, it’s been a lucky race for me.

"You need a bit of luck to win a big race like the Galway Hurdle, especially when you’re riding a horse that’s being held up.

"You need things to work out for you. There’s the old saying when you’re on the best horse in the race you’ll always get the gaps, and when the gaps opened last year (for Tudor City) I’d enough horse to fill them straight away.

"You need that around Galway, you need a horse with plenty of pace and he had that. Hopefully he’ll go back there next week and if the ground is on the faster side he’ll have another chance again.
