Industry professionals have issued a very positive bulletin on the new Easyfix traditional style hurdles which are currently being trialled at a number of Irish racecourses.

The obstacles were used for the first time in a race at Tipperary on Sunday and again at Fairyhouse yesterday.

Fairyhouse manager Peter Roe said: “They are being trialled over 12 meetings at four tracks — Tipperary, Fairyhouse, Thurles and Galway — up to the end of the year.”

Trainer Noel Meade said: “I love them and have done since the first time I saw them.

“Gordon (Elliott) loves them, and Gavin (Cromwell) and Willie (Mullins) also like them.

“They have to be a better job than the other (Easyfix) hurdles which are solid and if you get it wrong you can go down. With these ones you can probably make a mistake and get away with it.

“I think horses are more inclined to jump them.”

Donagh Meyler was also very positive about the hurdles saying, “I love them and there are no complaints in the weigh room.”
