Poseidon cut down Rewritetherules to land the It's Good To Be Back At Limerick Racecourse Hurdle for Charles Byrnes and Cathal Landers.
The six-year-old gelding tanked onto the heels of the leaders approaching the straight in this extended two mile contest.
Landers was patient on Poseidon in third as Rewritethrules took over from Never Do Nothing at the penultimate flight.
Rewritetherules then went for home as Poseidon was ridden to close coming to the last. A great jump there saw Poseidon sweep past Rewritetherules halfway up the run-in, and he went on by a length and three parts.
The winner was a major market drifter from 5/4 right out to 3/1 while the runner-up halved in price from 14/1 to 7/1.
Once the well backed 11/10 favourite Never Do Nothing was headed two out, he couldn't go with the front pair and finished third a further two and a half lengths away.
Charles Byrnes said: "He is consistent and ran up to his rating. He jumped really well and he likes that ground.
"He could run on the Flat also for the summer, and I'll look for something before Galway."
