Brownpolish (Adrian Joyce up), second in his only point-to-point and not without showing signs of ability in five runs under Rules, made the breakthrough in the I.N.H. Stallion Owners European Breeders Fund Maiden Hurdle.
The son of Karinga Bay went off at 14/1 but he belied those odds with a tough performance to keep the strong-challenging Marlay Park at bay by three lengths.
Galway handler David Kelly wasn't overly surprised at the win and he said: "He is a nice tough horse and Adrian gave him a super ride. The little bit of better ground today would have been a help to him.
"The man that owns him, John Guiry couldn't come today. He is a sound man and he's from Fethard, Co. Tipperary."
