Petrol Head has returned in tremendous form this year scoring twice and connections are now dreaming of even bigger days ahead at the upcoming Galway Festival.
The Valirann gelding won twice off a lowly mark for Ronan McNally but was absent for nearly two years before successful on both starts for Katy Brown this summer.
The eight-year-old won easily at Downpatrick last month and followed up in the €50,000 Bia Energy Handicap Hurdle at Bellewstown.
A combined rise of 21lb for those recent victories leaves the gelding on a current handicap mark of 126 and the €270,000 Guinness Galway Hurdle is very much part of plans.
"He went up the weights there and he has an entry for the Galway Hurdle,” said Brown, speaking after saddling Reinforce to win a sprint handicap at Navan yesterday.
"There is also an €80,000 consolation race (on the Friday of the Festival) if he doesn't get into the Galway Hurdle.
"He's a lovely horse and he could be anything."
The bottom weight in the Galway Hurdle last year was on a mark of 136 and it was 130 the previous year.
