This year`s Galway festival will have a total prize fund of almost #900,000 with the minimum value of all races raised to #8,000 it was revealed today.
The Galway Plate and Hurdle have received a significant boost, both raised to #100,000 from #65,000 and #60,000 respectively.
Other features to increase in value are the GPT Galway QR Handicap (#40,000 from # 25,000), the McDonogh Handicap (#70,000 from #50,000), the Dawn Dairies Handicap Hurdle (#30,000 from #20,000) and the Eircell Handicap (#50,000 from #30,000).
A bonus of #20,000 will be paid to the winner of both the GPT Galway QR Handicap and the Galway Hurdle.
