PRINCEFUL HAS ASCOT OPTION

Princeful could make his return to racing in the #31,000-added Grosvenor Casinos Long Distance Hurdle at Ascot on Saturday.

Winner of the Bonusprint Stayers' Hurdle at Cheltenham in 1998 when trained by Jenny Pitman, the gelding has been off the course since January last year when he fractured his near-hind pedal bone in a fall at Doncaster.

His trainer Mandy Bowlby said today: "He's fine and did a nice piece of work at Newbury on Saturday.

"We're short of options for him, we'll have a look at the race and the ground but we'd like to run if it's at all possible.

"He'd run on good ground, he wouldn't run on any quicker than that.

"He's been in good form, I'm not saying he won't benefit from a race, but we're pleased to have him back and going basically."

The going at Ascot is currently described as good, good to firm in places.
