The reason for the previously-unbeaten Preseli's surprisingly sluggish performance in Sunday's Entenmann's 1,000 Guineas has emerged.
Her trainer Michael Grassick explained this evening 'We were obviously disappointed with her run, but when we looked at her this morning, we found her to be in season'.
Preseli, the 5-1 second favourite, trailed in twelfth of the thirteen runners behind Clive Brittain's Crimplene.
