Brendan Powell hopes to be fit to ride Young Kenny in Saturday's #60,000 Singer & Friedlander National Trial at Uttoxeter.
Peter Beaumont's charge, winner of the Marstons Pedigree Midlands Grand National at the Staffordshire course last season, was one of 21 horses confirmed for the race today.
Young Kenny bids to redeem his reputation in the contest after disappointing efforts in the Hennessy Cognac Gold Cup and Coral Welsh National, while Powell was injured in a fall at Doncaster last Friday but hopes to be back in action on Thursday.
"He won the Midlands National there last year and I said afterwards that he won despite of the track," Powell said of Young Kenny on SIS.
"It's not ideal, it's over three and a half miles rather than four and a quarter, but you've got to go somewhere with him _ there are not many races for him.
"He has got a lot of weight but he'll go there and hopefully go back for the Greenalls (now De Vere Gold Cup) which he won last year."
Edmond, who had Young Kenny back in sixth when winning the Coral Welsh National at Chepstow in December, is one of three possible runners from Henry Daly's yard.
The Downton trainer could also be represented by Coral Mildmay Cazalet Chase winner Lancastrian Jet and Step On Eyre.
Paul Nicholls could run Welsh National third and fourth Earthmover and Flaked Oats, but has pulled out Banjo, Torduff Express and Gigi Beach.
Nicholls said: "This has been plan to run them in this race since the Welsh National.
"Joe Tizzard rides Earthmover and hopefully Robert Widger will be available for Flaked Oats."
Other notable defectors include original top-weight Macgeorge, Bet Direct Peter Marsh Chase winner The Last Fling and last year's runner-up Fiddling The Facts.
Desert Orchid will lead out the runners for the three-and-a-half mile contest.
