POOR DRAW TO TEST LEO

William Haggas` hopes of landing the Independent Heinz 57 Phoenix Stakes at Leopardstown on Sunday have been dealt a blow following the news that Superstar Leo has the worst draw in the six-furlong event.

The filly, winner of the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot and Weatherbys Super Sprint at Newbury last time, is in stall one, furthest away from the rail in the Group One contest.

The trainer said: 'She`s in great form but I gather she`s got the `coffin` draw - she`s drawn one and apparently that`s not great.'

Haggas is aware of the task that faces his stable star.

'Aidan O`Brien`s got five in, there`s Dora Carrington, there are plenty of dangers but there should be - its a Group One race,' he added.

Superstar Leo, who will be ridden by Michael Hills, will take on 10 rivals when she lines up on Sunday.

They include Dora Carrington who has won both her starts to date, beating subsequent Princess Margaret Stakes winner Enthused in the Cherry Hinton Stakes at Newmarket last time.

Pat Eddery`s mount travelled to Ireland today and trainer Peter Harris reported: 'She`s 100%, she`s in great form and she`s over there to do her best.

'I`d be disappointed if she`s not thereabouts but then again it is a Group One.'

The British challenge is completed by the Mick Channon-trained duo Silca Legend (Johnny Murtagh) and Speedy Gee (Craig Williams), and Nick Littmoden`s Prince Of Blues.

Aidan O`Brien has five runners in a race he has won for the last two years with Lavery and Fasliyev.

The quintet is headed by Freud, a full-brother to Giant`s Causeway, who was beaten at odds of 1-5 at the Curragh on his debut.

Cashel Palace, Minardi, Pirate Of Penzance and La Vida Loca make up the Ballydoyle team.

Two British runners have been declared for the Phoenix Sprint Stakes on the same card.

Cretan Gift (Littmoden) and the Kevin Ryan-trained Eastern Purple go for the Group Three event.
