Tote Chester Cup winner Bangalore could bid to win the north's other major long-distance handicap, the Foster's Lager Northumberland Plate at Newcastle for which weights were published today.
The Amanda Perrett-trained four-year-old is one of 49 entries for the £130,000 contest and is set to carry 8st 4lb.
The four-year-old has not raced since his victory at the Roodeye and his trainer has yet to confirm her charge for the July 1st event.
Mrs Perrett said today: "He's also in the Ascot Stakes at Royal Ascot next week and we'll probably make a decision when we've seen the entries.
"He's in great form - it's just there haven't been any suitable races for him since Chester and it's a shame that these two are so close together."
The second, third and fourth at Chester, Ansar (8-5), Fantasy Hill (8-7) and Prairie Falcon (8-1) could all reoppose Bangalore.
The Richard Hannon-trained Churlish Charm, winner of the Yorkshire Cup in 1999, has been set top-weight of 10-2 in the extended two-mile race.
Last year's winner Far Cry, who went on to score in pattern company for trainer Martin Pipe in the Doncaster Cup, is next in the weights on 9-11 along with the Barry Hills-trained Rainbow Ways.
Middleham trainer Mark Johnston has four entries in the prestigious event including 1998 Cesarewitch winner Spirit Of Love and Murghem, who landed a valuable contest at Epsom on Derby Day. Both have been allotted 9-8.
Ansar is one of two entries from Dermot Weld's stable along with Hirapour (8-13).
