PITMAN FACES JOCKEY CLUB OVER LIGHT RUN

Trainer Mark Pitman and conditional jockey Liam Corcoran will face a Jockey Club inquiry tomorrow concerning the running and riding of Son Of Light at Ludlow last month.

Son Of Light finished a staying-on two-and-a-half-length second to Redemption in the Ash National Hunt Novices' Hurdle on February 23rd.

An inquiry was held on the day by the local stewards and, after interviewing Corcoran and the trainer's representative Sarah Kerswell, the officials noted their explanations that the instructions were to drop the gelding out and get him to settle as he had run too freely in his previous races, had found nothing under pressure and therefore had not been getting home.

However, following a review of the race by the Jockey Club's monitoring service the decision was made to re-open the inquiry to determine whether Pitman and Corcoran have committed a breach of Rule 151, the 'non-triers'' rule.
