Richard Johnson reached a career best of 134 winners for the season thanks to a 77-1 treble on George Bull (9-4), Haut Cercy (9-4) and Lone Soldier (7-1) at Taunton today.
Johnson began the afternoon on 131, two short of his total for last season, with a 10-length victory on the Henry Daly-trained George Bull in the Peter & Sybil Blackburn Memorial Challenge Trophy Novices' Chase.
He completed a double for the Ludlow trainer with a hard-fought one length win on Haut Cercy in the second division of the Somerset Nuffield Hospital Novices' Hurdle.
And Johnson ended the day with a neck success on Lone Soldier for Philip Hobbs in the St John Ambulance Handicap Hurdle.
