Peacock Alley overcame a few anxious moments at Ayr today to continue her climb through the ranks.
The well-backed 5-2 favourite escaped from an unpromising position in the home straight in the Bonusprint Handicap to clinch a hat-trick.
Peacock Alley was full of running but in danger of missing out as she found herself trapped on the far rail.
Fortunately a gap came in the nick of time for Tony Culhane and his mount quickened up well to seize the initiative before being eased down close home for a three-quarters of a length verdict.
Peartree House, a winner over the course 24 hours earlier, also experienced trouble in running before finishing well to take second.
Peacock Alley is trained by William Haggas for Lake District-based Gary Middlebrook.
Middlebrook, a long-time supporter of racing under both codes, also has horses in training on the Flat with Mark Johnston, Jimmy FitzGerald and Nigel Tinkler.
'I was worried for a time about as the race unfolded but Peacock Alley has gone and done it well in the end,' he said.
'The jockey said the ground wasn't ideal and the trainer admitted he was worried about it being fast.'
Peacock Alley will now be aimed at a seven-furlong handicap at Sandown's Eclipse meeting.
