American jockey Pat Valenzuela has had his licence suspended after testing positive to amphetamines.
At a formal hearing last night it was also recommended that the rider be ineligible for relicensing until February 11th, 2001.
Valenzuela, who has won over 3,000 races in his career including the 1989 Kentucky Derby on Sunday Silence, has a history of drug problems and this was the fourth time that he has tested positive, dating back to 1989.
He only returned to race-riding after a two-year break last September.
