PAST WINNERS HEAD GOLD CUP FIELD

No fewer than three previous winners of the Gold Cup are among the 15 horses confirmed for the Group One prize at Royal Ascot on Thursday.

Last year's winner Enzeli, representing the Vodafone Derby-winning connections of the Aga Khan, John Oxx and Johnny Murtagh, could take on 1998 victor Kayf Tara, and Celeric, winner of the 1997 renewal.

Kayf Tara, impressive winner of the Yorkshire Cup last month, is one of two Godolphin possibles along with Sea Wave.

Sheikh Mohammed's operation have taken out Sagamix, Mukhalif and Mutafaweq, with the Mark Johnston-trained Sinon the only other horse to be withdrawn.

Vodafone Oaks runner-up Kalypso Katie is one of 15 acceptors for the Group Two Ribblesdale Stakes on the same card.

Clipper, Miletrian, So Precious and Whitefoot - all unplaced at Epsom - are also in the field.

A field of 27 horses have stood their ground for the Group Two Cork And Orrery Stakes including Lend A Hand and Pipalong, first and second in the Duke Of York Stakes last time.

Classic winners Crimplene and Bluemamba are among the 12 fillies who remain in the £250,000 Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot on Friday.

Crimplene, winner of both the German and Irish 1000 Guineas for Clive Brittain could clash again with Ammethyst, beaten a length and a half at the Curragh.

Bluemamba, won the French 1000 Guineas at Longchamp for trainer Pascal Bary, was supplemented at a cost of £20,000 on Friday.

Also in the field are Princess Ellen, second to Lahan in the Sagitta 1000 Guineas at Newmarket but only fifth at the Curragh, and Seazun, who was fourth in both races.

Last year's winner Fruits Of Love is among 15 horses confirmed for the Group Two Hardwicke Stakes on the same card.

A high-class field also includes 1999 St Leger winner Mutafaweq, Shiva, and 1998 Arc hero Sagamix.

Only nine horses have been confirmed for the Group Two King Edward VII Stakes.

Vodafone Derby sixth and 11th Hatha Anna and Inchlonaig are among a three-strong Godolphin entry along with Roscius.

All of the leading fancies, including ante-post favourite Pepperdine, are among the 77 horses who stand their ground in the Wokingham Stakes.
